Senior Advisor – Agriculture, Market Systems & Climate Finance

About the role

VisionFund International is seeking a senior advisor to lead technical work across agriculture, market systems and climate finance. The role will guide product development, strategy, grant writing and programme management for the CrediEnterprise pilot within the THRIVE 2030 programme.

Key responsibilities

• Provide technical advice on best practices in agricultural, market systems and climate finance to VisionFund operations and partner MFIs.
• Lead the CrediEnterprise credit product pilot across nine countries, overseeing implementation, training, monitoring and reporting.
• Support resource development by contributing technical content to grant proposals and donor engagements.
• Coordinate programme reporting, knowledge management and learning documentation for the THRIVE 2030 initiative.
• Represent VisionFund in external technical working groups and climate‑action forums.

Required profile

• Minimum 10 years experience in agricultural, climate and market‑systems finance, preferably in Africa.
• Degree in Agricultural Economics or related field; postgraduate qualification preferred.
• Proven experience in market‑systems and agricultural lending, understanding of farmer value chains.
• Demonstrated ability to design and implement projects, write grants and produce reports.
• Strong communication skills and experience working across multiple countries.
• Working proficiency in written and spoken English; Spanish or French a plus.
• Willingness to travel up to 35% of the time.
