Senior Manager – Water, Sanitation & Hygiene (WASH) – Africa

About the role

CIFF is seeking a Senior Manager to lead its Zambia WASH portfolio. The role provides strategic leadership, technical oversight, and operational management of large‑scale, climate‑resilient water, sanitation and hygiene investments across rural communities, schools and health facilities.

Key responsibilities

• Provide strategic direction for the Zambia WASH portfolio, aligning with CIFF’s Africa WASH Mission and corporate priorities.
• Lead the design, appraisal, implementation, adaptive management and closure of investments worth approximately US$25 million.
• Oversee delivery of solar‑powered groundwater schemes from feasibility through commissioning and hand‑over.
• Serve as CIFF’s principal WASH representative in Zambia, building relationships with government ministries, utilities, donors and development partners.
• Support the Zambian government to accelerate financing implementation, identify bottlenecks, and develop bankable investment pipelines.
• Implement robust monitoring systems, support independent verification, and promote learning to improve programme quality.

Required profile

• Proven senior‑level leadership of complex, large‑scale WASH or water‑infrastructure programmes in low‑ and middle‑income countries.
• Hands‑on experience with rural water infrastructure, especially groundwater development and solar‑powered water systems.
• Demonstrated ability to engage effectively with government agencies and strengthen institutional systems.
• Experience mobilising climate finance and supporting country‑led WASH platforms.
