Asset Officer

About the role

The Asset Officer will be responsible for managing and maintaining the fixed‑asset register for the plant, ensuring compliance with internal policies and IFRS standards. This role supports accurate financial reporting and audit readiness through diligent asset tracking and depreciation management.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain the fixed‑asset register and ensure all assets are correctly recorded.
• Calculate and post depreciation in line with IFRS and company policies.
• Interpret and apply asset policies for purchases, valuations, revaluations, accruals, and disposals.
• Reconcile the asset sub‑ledger with the general ledger on a periodic basis.
• Coordinate asset purchases, labeling, and physical stock‑taking.
• Manage disposals of fully depreciated, obsolete, or damaged assets.
• Support month‑end and year‑end closing procedures, including audit schedules.
• Assist in developing and improving asset‑management processes and procedures.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Economics or a related discipline.
• Professional certification such as ACA, ACCA, CIMA or CFA.
• 5–8 years of relevant experience in fixed‑asset accounting or finance.

Required skills

• Knowledge of IFRS and depreciation methodologies.
• Experience with fixed‑asset registers and sub‑ledger reconciliation.
• Ability to interpret and apply asset‑management policies.
