Area Supervisor, Production – Rompad

About the role

The Area Supervisor, Production – Load & Haul (Rompad) oversees daily operations within a designated work area of the Load and Haul section at the Kansanshi mine. The role ensures safe, efficient deployment of personnel and equipment to meet shift production targets while adhering to safety, environmental and operational standards.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise operators and assistants to execute load and haul tasks effectively.
• Allocate and monitor equipment use, optimizing performance and minimizing downtime.
• Conduct pre‑shift and post‑shift inspections and briefings.
• Enforce safe work practices and risk assessments.
• Identify and address operational issues, escalating when necessary.
• Motivate team members to maintain high productivity and teamwork.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives.
• Maintain accurate records of shift activities, equipment performance and attendance.
• Liaise with maintenance teams for equipment repairs and servicing.

Required profile

• Grade 12 certificate or diploma in Mining, Mineral Science or related field.
• Valid blasting license, first aid certificate and driver’s licence.
• 3–5 years’ experience in open‑pit mining, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
• Strong technical knowledge of heavy mining equipment.
• Good understanding of production scheduling, equipment utilisation and safety standards.
• Demonstrated ability to lead small teams and resolve field‑level challenges.

Required skills

• Operation of heavy mining equipment such as trucks, loaders, excavators and dozers.
• Basic computer literacy and use of mining‑related software systems.
