Specialist, Business Performance

About the role

First Quantum is seeking a Specialist in Business Performance to develop and maintain robust financial models that support operational, commercial and investment decisions. The role translates technical assumptions into clear financial outcomes, enabling management to evaluate scenarios and improve business performance.

Key responsibilities

• Build, maintain and improve integrated financial models for operational initiatives, commercial opportunities and investment decisions.
• Perform discounted cash flow, net present value, internal rate of return and payback analyses to assess financial viability.
• Develop scenario and sensitivity analyses to identify value drivers, risks and opportunities.
• Collaborate with operational and technical teams to validate model assumptions.
• Support business case development, investment proposals and Life of Mine strategic planning.
• Analyse historical and forecast data to identify performance trends and improvement opportunities.
• Prepare management presentations and decision‑support materials.
• Develop and maintain Business Performance dashboards and analytical tools.

Required profile

• Full Grade Twelve (G12) school certificate.
• Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, economics, engineering, mining or a related quantitative discipline.
• 3 to 5 years of experience in financial modelling, management accounting, business analysis or mining economics.
• Professional qualification such as CA, ACCA or CIMA is advantageous.
• All academic qualifications must be verified by the Zambia Qualifications Authority.

Required skills

• Advanced Excel (including Power Query).
• Power BI (basic to intermediate).
• Financial modelling and analytical thinking.
• Discounted cash flow, net present value and internal rate of return analysis.
• Strong communication and presentation skills.
