Senior Accountant – Hybrid Role in Lusaka

About the role

Armitage Environmental and Social Consulting is seeking a Senior Accountant to join its Lusaka office. This full‑time hybrid position combines office work with flexible remote days, supporting the firm’s sustainability projects across mining, agriculture, power and manufacturing sectors.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the general ledger and ensure accurate posting of all transactions in line with accounting standards.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements.
• Support budgeting, forecasting and cash‑flow management for projects and the overall organization.
• Oversee accounts payable and receivable, perform reconciliations and monitor project‑related costs and revenues.
• Maintain tax compliance, regulatory reporting and assist with external audits.
• Identify and recommend improvements to financial controls and reporting processes.
• Collaborate with project managers and senior leadership to deliver clear financial insights.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Accounting, Finance or a related field; professional certification (CA, ACCA, CIMA) is a plus.
• Several years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in consultancy, professional services or sustainability‑focused organisations.
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving and attention‑to‑detail abilities.
• High integrity, reliability and the capacity to work both independently and collaboratively in a hybrid setting.

Required skills

• Proficiency with accounting software such as Zoho or Xero.
• Advanced Excel or comparable spreadsheet tools.
