Technical Sales Lead

About the role

The company is a fast‑growing renewable energy firm based in Zambia, focused on expanding access to clean power through equipment distribution and solar project development. The Technical Sales Lead will own and drive both the commercial and technical arms of the business, combining sales of solar equipment with end‑to‑end project development.

Key responsibilities

• Own and grow the distribution sales pipeline for solar panels, battery storage and inverters.
• Develop and manage relationships with retailers, wholesalers, traders, contractors, EPCs and large end‑users.
• Drive revenue targets, manage the full sales cycle and negotiate supply and pricing agreements.
• Identify and activate new distribution channels and market segments across Zambia and the wider region.
• Lead project origination, qualify sites and build a pipeline of solar and storage projects.
• Perform full system design and engineering, including medium‑voltage (MV) design.
• Prepare technical proposals, single‑line diagrams, load studies and engineering reports.
• Liaise with EPCs, utilities and regulators for permitting and grid interconnection.

Required profile

• Existing active customer base of buyers in solar equipment distribution.
• Proven track record of revenue generation in solar or energy equipment sales.
• Electrical Engineering degree (B.Eng/B.Sc or equivalent).
• 5–10+ years of combined commercial and technical experience in renewable energy or the electrical sector.
• Self‑starter who thrives in a fast‑paced, entrepreneurial environment.
• Strong business development, negotiation and relationship management abilities.

Required skills

• Hands‑on experience designing and engineering medium‑voltage electrical systems.
• Proficiency with solar design tools such as PVsyst, HOMER Pro and AutoCAD.
• Strong knowledge of grid‑tied and off‑grid solar‑plus‑storage systems.
